Permission was given for Arenas Del Tiempo (GB) to go early to post, be mounted in the chute and to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Lady Rockstar (GB), placed second, ridden by Daniel Tudhope, Omany Amber (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Clifford Lee, Mowaleda (USA), placed fifth, ridden by Jim Crowley, Thunder Lily (IRE), placed third, ridden by Martin Dwyer, and Who Cares Wins (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by William Buick, all of which raced a long way detached from the eventual winner, Arenas Del Tiempo (GB), ridden by Oisin Murphy, which had established a significant lead down the back straight and turning into the home straight.
Tudhope’s instructions were to be handy and find a position where he was happy; Lee’s instructions were to take a lead and sit where he was happy; Crowley’s instructions were to try and sit in the first three; Dwyer’s instructions were to get cover and get his filly to relax as she had run too free on her previous run; Buick was unable to recall his instructions but was happy with his position in the race.
All riders were of the opinion that Murphy’s mount was racing freely and going quicker than was suitable for their own mounts to sustain, and they felt he would likely come back to them.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, William Buick reported that Who Cares Wins (IRE), placed sixth, had no more to give.
