Permission was given for Mondammej (GB) to go early to post.
The winner, Mondammej (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on 9 October 2021, where the gelding finished last of 21 runners, beaten by 23 lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Antony Brittain could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Mondammej (GB) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 3 furlongs out involving Mokaatil (GB), placed sixth, ridden by David Egan, Royal Birth (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Marco Ghiani, Blue De Vega (GER), placed fourth, ridden by Ray Dawson and Newyorkstateofmind (GB), placed second, ridden by Martin Dwyer.
The interference was found to be accidental and caused by the pace slowing with a keen racing Royal Birth (GB) running onto the heels of Mokaatil (GB) and dragging that gelding down from behind, causing Mokaatil (GB) to lose its action and bounce off the rail, just prior to Newyorkstateofmind (GB) edging marginally left-handed crowding Blue De Vega (GER) onto Mokaatil (GB).
As a result of this, Mokaatil (GB) lost several lengths and in turn caused Royal Birth (GB) to clip its heels and stumble badly.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Mokaatil (GB) had suffered an injury to its right hind.
