The Stewards received a request from M.F.Morris, trainer of Tinakellylad, to substitute the nominated rider P.J. Brennan, with D.J.Casey. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that he inadvertently declared P.J. Brennan and by the time he noticed the mistake, it was too late to correct it. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the substitution request, noted the explanation offered and cautioned the trainer concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. The Stewards interviewed K.C. Sexton, rider of Betterthanalright, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days.
