Permission was given for Due A Rum (GB) to go early to the start.
Approximately 6 furlongs out, the winner, Aurora Papillon (IRE), which was running free, was eased off the heels of Flintstone (IRE), placed third, which in turn caused Due A Rum (GB), placed fourth, to be carried off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Aurora Papillon (IRE).
The performance of Due A Rum (GB) which started favourite and finished fourth of four runners, was considered.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s explanation that the gelding had run too free and would benefit from being produced for a run later in the race, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
