Permission was given for Bug Boy (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving Night Eagle (IRE), placed second, ridden by Tom Queally, GEARING’S POINT, placed third, ridden by Rose Dawes, Premiere Ligne (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Luke Morris, and Party Island (IRE), unplaced, ridden by George Bass.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Night Eagle (IRE)’s placing as the gelding shifted GEARING’S POINT approximately five horse’s widths right- handed across the track and the distance between both runners was a short head at the line.
The placings were therefore revised as follows: First – Bug Boy (IRE), Second – GEARING’S POINT, Third, Night Eagle (IRE), Fourth – Premiere Ligne (FR).
The interference was found to be accidental in that Night Eagle (IRE) hung right-handed despite Queally’s best efforts to correct the gelding.
