The Clerk of the Scales objected to Bodacious Name (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Jason Hart, and trained by John Quinn, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 9st 1lbs, having weighed out at 9st 7lbs.
Bodacious Name (IRE) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: First – Noble Behest (GB), Second – Colwood (GB), Third – Contingency Fee (GB) and Fourth – Tigray (USA).
The rider, the trainer’s representative and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Quinn was fined £750 as his representative had failed to add the weight cloth which the rider had weighed out with, when saddling Bodacious Name (IRE).
The performance of Tigray (USA), which started joint second favourite and finished fourth, beaten 27¾ lengths, was considered.
Ben Curtis reported that the gelding accelerated the gate and Michael Appleby’s representative reported that Tigray (USA) had failed to stay the 2m ½f trip on this occasion.
The gelding was routine tested.
