Paul Carberry stole the show here with a tactical ride out of the very top drawer on Tony Martin's Save The Bacon who was a big drifter before the off. Carberry bowled along in front on the 110 rated hurdler who met one too good last time out when well backed but there was no match for the eight-year-old on this occasion.

Save The Bacon had established a four to five length advantage over his rivals before the chasing group, headed by Ridge Boy closed after the third last. However on landing over the last Carberry kicked for home on landing over the second last and from there it was all over.

Our Matti was hard pressed to finish within six-lengths of the winner who was eased down but a good maiden hurdle debut and he will improve from the run but battled well to deny Ridge Boy in the minor honours and he would probably want further having been got for toe at the business end of things.

The Dessie Hughes trained Jimmy Ber is struggling to find the perfect opportunity to break his maiden but is ever consistent and on even better ground again he should be capable of scoring in a decent enough contest.

Afterwards Tony Martin spoke in a manner which showed he held the winner in high regard, ?He got a leg as a young horse after being third in a Point-To-Point and I always thought there was a performance like that in him. He will go chasing next year and he is very good jumper. We will go Fairyhouse and Punchestown and I have always held him in high regard.?

Sinatra Bar, trained by Paul Nolan was examined by the the Turf Club Medical Officer and found to be post race normal.
