D.J. Mullins, rider of Tavern Times trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished lame. The Stewards interviewed R.C. Colgan, rider of Polish Partisan, concerning his use of the whip from the last fence. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.C. Colgan was in breach of R10(3)(b) by the continued use of his whip after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and consequently suspended him for 2 days having taken his previous record into consideration.

Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each steeplechase won Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
