A smart performance by Vilasol saw the grey son of Verglas open his account by a snug half a length, in a manner which connections thought he was capable of. Having been a beaten favourite on his debut at the backend of last month, Kevin Prendergast's charge was always prominent and from the turn into the straight, he settled the issue in good style staying on all the way to the line.

Prendergast put his slightly disappointing debut down to "stage fright and possibly the heavy ground." He has now opened his account and looks a nice two-year-old who should have no problem stepping up in trip.

Indeed there were a few in these who will probably appreciate further, including the late finishing debutant Ryehill Dreamer who flew home to take second spot and an extra 100 yards may have even brought a different result although the winner did appear to have a bit up his sleeve.

Third placed Daggers Bond is another who stayed on to take the minor money and connections will undoubtedly be overjoyed with this effort behind two good horses. A similar contest over seven or possibly even a stiff six should reap rewards.

Favourite Four Star General was a slight drifter beforehand and could only manage eight but similar to most of the stable's juvenile's he should strip better for the experience.

Solasai was another slight drifter in the ring but it was a debut which she is sure to build on and a quicker surface may be appreciated while Chief Wild Cat failed to maintain his prominent position at the business end.

The ground was changed to good to yielding from good following the running of this race.
