The rain was probably a help to him. We weren't sure about stepping him up in trip and Donnacha took his time on him. Obviously he got the trip and he'll probably get a mile-and-a-quarter. He's gone up 10lb and just won so hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on him. He's improved since last season and we always thought that when he got a little ease in the ground there was a little bit more improvement. He might jump a hurdle in time.

The Stewards interviewed C. O'Donoghue, rider of Palavicini Run, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that he used the whip with his arm above shoulder height and having considered his record, cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. C.D. Hayes, rider of Catch Word trained by Eoin Griffin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran free in the early stages.
