The Clerk of the Scales objected to Delight Of Dubai (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Paddy Brennan and trained by Noel Williams, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 10st 10lbs, having weighed out at 11st 7lbs.
The rider, the trainer and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Brennan’s explanation that the weight cloth came adrift rounding the home bend and the saddle pad had fallen from the mare on the approach to the final fence was accepted and Delight Of Dubai (IRE) was disqualified, with the placings revised as follows: Fourth, Subcontinent (IRE), Fifth, Iron Horse (GB).
Following the race, Lee Edwards reported that Durouyn (GB), which was pulled up, ran greenly.
