The winner, Contingency Fee (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Great Yarmouth on 30 July 2019 where the gelding finished twelfth of sixteen, beaten by 14¼ lengths.
The representative of Phil McEntee’s explanation that running in a smaller field on this occasion had allowed Contingency Fee (GB) to settle better and dictate the pace was noted.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Mr Fox (GB), placed fourth, clipped heels coming down the hill and Tom Marquand reported that Sir Canford (IRE), which started joint-favourite and finished third, hung left-handed under pressure.
