King Gypsy (IRE) wore earplugs throughout.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Exploiteur (FR), ridden by Miss Lilly Pinchin and trained by Graeme McPherson which was ridden in rear before staying on strongly to finish fourth of nine runners, beaten by 12 ¾ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of the gelding, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that her instructions were to settle the gelding at the back of the field for the first four hurdles and to then let Exploiteur (FR) stride along down the back straight and to ride the gelding to obtain the best possible placing.
The trainer confirmed these instructions adding that in its previous two races at Stratford and Warwick, the gelding had run keenly and had not been finishing his races.
McPherson further added that it was important to get the gelding to settle on this occasion in order for him to finish the race better.
Their explanations were noted.
