He loves this place. I fancied him. He is a horse that is hard to get fit, you can work him all you like at home, but there is nothing better than a race. He's had three or four runs leading up to this. He ran in Clonmel and ran well, but I had to give him another run on the Flat at Leopardstown just to get him right for here. The boys wanted to come here, they told me that they wanted to win this race at Christmas time! It's grand when it works out. I was surprised he was 25/1 last night. I suppose he hasn't got the gears for the Flat anymore and that run at Leopardstown probably put a lot of people off. He loves the ups and downs around here. It's great for the owners after Masterchippy broke his leg earlier (in the fourth race). He'll tip away for the summer and he will probably come back here in August. N Dooly, trainer

A. Ring, rider of Definite Soldier trained by John Andrew Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly

R.P. Treacy, rider of Fleurys Fort trained by L.Young, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right in the closing stages

M.J. Bolger, rider of Pat's Pearl trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and pulled up

The Stewards enquired into possible interference approaching the last involving Statistical, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed fifth, Fleurys Fort, ridden by R.P. Treacy, placed second and Ashjan (GB), ridden by S.W

Flanagan, placed third, where it appeared S.W. Flanagan ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alterations to the Judges placings. They were, however of the opinion that R.P. Treacy was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record, they suspended him for 2 racedays

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Pat's Pearl, trained by John C. McConnell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
