Permission was given for Twotwothree (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend turning into the home straight on the first circuit involving the winner, Sabbathical (FR), ridden by Adam Wedge, Chanceux (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Ciaran Gethings, Blueberry Wine (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Theo Gillard, and Twotwothree (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Robert Dunne.
The interference was found to be accidental as Blueberry Wine (IRE) had made contact with a section of rail that jinked out slightly, causing the gelding to become unbalanced.
The winner, Sabbathical (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Uttoxeter on 1 April 2023, where the gelding finished seventh of eight, beaten by 20 ¼ lengths.
It was noted that Evan Williams could offer no explanation for the gelding's improved form; Sabbathical (FR) was routine tested.
Following the race, Ross Chapman reported that Gandhi Maker (FR), placed sixth, hung badly left- handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Blueberry Wine (IRE), placed fourth, had lost its right- hind shoe.
