Permission was given for Golden Sands (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post and for Timeless Charm (IRE), Son Of Man (IRE) and Giselles Defence (IRE) to all wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Timeless Charm (IRE), unplaced, stumbled, before moving left-handed and bumping Son Of Man (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race, after interference on the run to the line involving the dead-heat winners Majestic (IRE), ridden by David Probert and Koy Koy (GB), ridden by Grace McEntee.
Having heard the evidence and viewed recordings of the incident, it was established that approximately 4 strides from the line Majestic (IRE) had lugged left-handed and made contact with Koy Koy (GB), which also resulted in that gelding being moved off its intended line over the concluding stages.
Taking into account there was no margin separating the runners at the finish and the effect of any interference on the run to the line, the Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Majestic (IRE) and revised the placings accordingly: 1st Koy Koy (GB), 2nd Majestic (IRE), 3rd KING’S CODE, 4th ASGARD’S CAPTAIN (IRE).
The interference was found to be accidental as Probert had been taking reasonable steps in order to straighten his mount from shifting left-handed.
Following the race, Kyle Strydom reported that ASGARD’S CAPTAIN (IRE), placed fourth, hung left- handed and Charles Bishop reported that Giselles Defence (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away from the stalls and denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
