The Stewards held an enquiry to consider a complaint by Peter Bowen, the trainer of Mon Eldorado (FR), which was withdrawn by the Veterinary Officer at 13.
48, twelve minutes before the advertised time of the race.
They interviewed the trainer and the Veterinary Officer.
The Veterinary Officer stated that she had withdrawn Mon Eldorado (FR) as the gelding had only arrived twenty minutes before the race and had been on the horsebox, which had been delayed in heavy traffic, for over five hours.
She further stated the gelding was sweating and had an accelerated heart rate.
Bowen was unhappy with the Veterinary Officer’s decision to withdraw Mon Eldorado (FR).
Having considered their evidence the Stewards were satisfied with the clinical judgement made by the Veterinary Officer.
