J.M. Sheridan, rider of Aloysius Lilius, trained by Gerard O'Leary, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got stopped between one and a half and two furlongs from the finish

M.P. Sheehy, rider of Mna Na Mhi, trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped slowly from the starting stalls

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Harmony Rose (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fourth, Jawwaal (GB), ridden by M.W Hassett, placed sixth, and Aloysius Lilius, ridden by J.M. Sheridan, placed fifth, where it appeared that Aloysius Lilius was unable to take a gap between Harmony Rose (GB) and Jawwaal (GB) and eventually ran short of room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the late arrival at the start of Jawwaal (GB) , trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien and ridden by M.W. Hassett, Apprentice Jockey, which contributed to the race starting three minutes late

M.W. Hassett stated that he had previously ridden Jawwaal (GB) when his mount was very well in himself, who got his head down and got running on the way to the start. He added that today his mount tried to get running on the way to the start but he brought him back to a trot and proceeded to the start at that pace. He apologised for his actions which resulted in him arriving at the start one minute after the advertised starting time. Brendan Powell, Authorised representative for Joseph Patrick O'Brien stated that in view of the horses strong nature when going to the start previously, he felt that it would be best to go to the start last of the runners but their charge latched on to the bit and the rider brought him back to a trot. He confirmed that Jawwaal (GB) was a suitable ride for an Apprentice Jockey. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that M.W

Hassett was in breach of Rule 205 by failing to have his mount at the post ready to start at the appointed time

Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned M.W. Hassett on this occasion.

An extended handicap for three years old and upwards (85 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
