An enquiry was held into the start of this race to consider why, once the Starter’s flag had been dropped signifying that the race had started, a further 22 seconds elapsed before the runners began to race.
All the riders were interviewed and the Starter gave evidence via telephone.
Having heard their evidence, the explanation from all the riders that they had been instructed to drop-in and get a lead, was noted.
Following the race, Harry Cobden reported that Mcfabulous (IRE), which started favourite and finished third, hung right-handed throughout and Robbie Power reported that Vision Des Flos (FR), unplaced, ran too freely.
