The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Foxy Jacks, ridden by G
Brouder, placed first, and Stealthy Tom, ridden by M.M. McDonagh, placed second, where it appeared horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M.M. McDonagh stated that he jumped the last in the middle of the fence and got two bumps which pushed his mount out. G. Brouder stated that his mount wasn't doing much in front. He jumped the inside of the last and his mount drifted out and he put his whip down and pulled his mount in. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Foxy Jacks had caused interference to Stealthy Tom he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that G. Brouder was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for one race day.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards that have run at least three times in steeplechases up to and including 2nd July 2023
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase or steeplechases after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
