Review naas 30th Oct
Crack two-miler Captain Cee Bee opened his campaign with a near foot-perfect round of jumping before easing to victory in the Poplar Square Chase at Naas.
Mark Walsh was always travelling easily in second spot as Archie Boy took them along in the Grade Three contest, and he was almost upsides on the 9-10 favourite as they jumped the second-last.
There was no sign of the jumping errors that have been Captain Cee Bee's downfall on occasions, and Eddie Harty's nine-year-old took the final fence well enough before clearing away to score by four lengths.
The Paul Nolan-trained Shinrock Paddy looks set for a good season after putting up a notable performance on his seasonal debut to give weight away all round in the Tipper Road Hurdle.
A big disappointment when last seen at the Cheltenham Festival, the six-year-old (3-1) challenged for the lead at the second-last and got the better of a tussle with favourite Son Amix to score by a length and a quarter under Alain Cawley.< Sweet Shock hit the front two out in the Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle, but there were plenty of challengers and Katie Walsh had to pull out all the stops to get the 4-1 favourite home by a short head from Dancing Tornado under a 6lb penalty.
The winner's trainer Michael O'Hare completed a double when 5-2 market leader Bale O'Shea responded to Paddy Flood's calls to hold off Mutadarek by three-quarters of a length in the E-Auctions.ie Handicap Hurdle.
Bill Harney's Kakagh (7-1) refused to be beaten in the Weatherbys Ireland GSB Beginners Chase, rallying gamely on the run-in for Robbie Colgan to overhaul favourite Lucky William and score by a length.
The market suggested a big run was expected from Dessie Hughes's 15-8 favourite Si C'Etait Vrai in the Naas Annual Membership Maiden Hurdle and so it proved, with Davy Russell in front at the last and forging ahead to beat The Bull Hayes by a length and a half.
