John Oxx and Mick Kinane warmed up for what could be a big weekend of action by claiming the Bank Of Ireland Maiden at Naas.

The pair have already bagged the English 2000 Guineas and Derby with Sea The Stars and he could bid for a Classic hat-trick in Sunday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

And although Chatline would fall some way short of those standards, she made a good impression when breaking her maiden in this six-furlong heat.

Regally bred, being by One Cool Cat out of top miler Marling, Chatline took it up in the final 100 yards to run out a length-and-a-half winner from fellow 3-1 joint-favourite April

"She's a nicely bred filly and she's really come on from her first run," said Oxx.

"She loves the fast ground and we'll probably step her up to six or seven furlongs and go from there."< Casual was sent off the 6-4 favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Race but proved a disappointment as Kaitlins Joy and Choose Me fought out a thrilling finish.

The market leader tried to mount a challenge but she was no match at Kaitlins Joy and Choose Me pulled clear in the final furlong, racing neck and neck for the line.

They flashed past the post in unison and the judge could not separate them, declaring a dead heat between Patrick Martin's Kaitlins Joy and her Kevin Prendergast-trained rival.

Martin said: "I think we're all relieved with that result. She's very tough and she just keeps going.

"Seamie (Heffernan, jockey) gets on really well with her. The ground was plenty quick for her this evening and she'll probably have a little break now."

Fran Berry hit two early winners, scoring aboard Qeyaada (11-2) in the Fishery Lane Handicap before following up on 4-5 favourite Miracle Match in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of the latter, said: "I'm delighted with him. He probably needs seven furlongs, so we'll step him up next.

"I don't know where we'll go next but the ground certainly wasn't a problem."
