Review leopardstown 6th Aug
Aidan O'Brien's Lillie Langtry confirmed herself as a serious Classic contender with a professional performance in the Debutante Stakes.
The 2-5 favourite - runner-up in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot - had more in front of her than behind turning into the straight and Johnny Murtagh had to roust her along a little.
But he did not need to get serious at any stage and she responded willingly to win going away from stablemate Devoted To You
William Hill went 7-1 about the Danehill Dancer filly for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
O'Brien said: "We gave her a little rest after Ascot and this was a lovely race for her, it is a nice race to win.
"Johnny gave her a lovely, confident ride. She relaxes very well and is one of those who can change gear very quickly.
"She will go for the Moyglare Stud Stakes next.
"She's very classy, always has been. She has no problem getting the seven and you'd hope she'd get a mile."
He said of the runner-up: "The race came a bit quickly after Galway but she ran a great race and I'm very pleased with her."< Beethoven (4-7) finally lost his maiden tag when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden over six furlongs by a head from Clashnacree although he looked to have a little more in hand than the official verdict.
O'Brien said: "He has been slow enough to learn, but I think he should progress nicely. He should have no problem in stepping up in trip and hopefully he'll improve from this."
Kieran O'Neill shone as the Ado McGuinness-trained Silly Dancer (10-1) came out on top in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.
The young rider dropped his mount out and plotted a path through runners, taking a tight gap on the rail to get upsides Forbidden and score by a head.
McGuinness said: "She's down to a winning mark now. She's in at Gowran next week so we'll probably go there for something similar. She's been running consistently all season and she deserved to win."
