Ado McGuinness's veteran sprinter Bubbly Bellini has been in cracking form since the start of the turf season and notched his third victory of the campaign in the Racing Again June 14th Race at Cork.
Only four went to post for the five-furlong charge but it looked a hotly contested event on the ratings and so it proved.
Bubbly Bellini (7-4 favourite) was smartly away under Declan McDonogh and after seeing off My Good Brother he had enough in the tank when tackled by market rival Russian Soul in the final half-furlong to pass the post with half a length to spare.
McDonogh doubled up when the Andrew Slattery-trained A Few Dollars More (10-1) led going to the furlong pole and had enough in the locker to hold on by a short head in a thrilling finish to the Mallow Town Summer BBQ Evening July 10th Handicap.
Eddie Lynam thinks a lot of his juvenile Promised Money who stepped up considerably from her debut run at Navan to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, having beaten only two home in a 12-runner race last weekend.
The daughter of Dark Angel (4-1) tackled the always prominent Jealous Beauty a furlong out in the hands of Pat Smullen and toughed it out well when the latter rallied strongly in the closing strides, getting home by a neck.
Smullen also landed the three-year-olds' version of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden on Dermot Weld's impressive Variable (8-11 favourite), who shot clear in the final furlong to win as she liked by six and a half lengths.
Colin Keane had to drop back a little to get out of a pocket on 7-4 favourite Ningxai in the Follow Us On Facebook Maiden but it made no difference as Ger Lyons' three-year-old quickened up nicely in the final furlong to win the race by half a length.
Former pony racing star Jack Kennedy produced the Pat Flynn-trained Funny How (33-1) with a late charge down the outside to record his first victory as a jockey in the Social Package Handicap, edging home by a head from Lady Ranger
