Review ballinrobe 15th Jun
< Top Mark made a winning debut over fences as he held the challenge of Coffee Tea Or Me in the Martin Tyrrell Auctioneers Tuam & Headfort Beginners Chase at Ballinrobe.
Barry Geraghty sent the 5-1 shot to the front with over a circuit to race and he dug deep to record a two-and-a-half-length victory.
"He's done it well. He likes good ground and jumps well," said winning trainer Gordon Elliott.
"He'll probably go to Perth in a couple of weeks time for a novice chase. He'll keep going over the summer and might go back on the Flat."< Max Speed (7-1) may be approaching veteran status but he showed plenty of guts for John Cullen to run out a game winner of the Rendezvous Bar Balla Handicap Chase.
The 10-year-old was under pressure from Moscow Breeze after the last but just held on by three-quarters of a length.
"We had the right man on board and he gave him some spin," said trainer Iggy Madden.
"He has had a lot of leg problems and if he comes out of this OK, we'll keep him going."
On the level, Captain Henry appreciated the step up to nine furlongs as he opened his account in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden.
Sent off the 11-10 favourite, the Edward Lynam-trained gelding had to pull out all the stops to hold Signore Momento by a head.
"He was feeling it. He's a horse that wants a bit of a cut," said jockey Pat Smullen.
"Hopefully he's sound in the morning. He showed a good attitude to battle back."< Gudnis Gracious Me (8-1) produced a fine front-running performance to land the McHale Engineering Handicap under Shane Gorey.
Trainer John O'Shea said: "She's unbelievably lazy and I thought the track might be against her but Shane made up her mind.
"She's probably a bit unlucky not to have won over hurdles and will go over fences at some stage."
