Whiskeywealth produced a fine front-running performance to claim the Kilsheelan Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel.

Philip Enright bounced out in front on the Yeats gelding in the two-mile contest, for horses that hadn't been placed previously, and he had a willing partner in the closing stages.

13/8 favourite Salamanca Bay threw down a strong challenge in the straight but couldn't find a way past Eoghan O'Grady's charge, who found plenty late on to record a length success.

The 9/2 winner had fallen when clear at the last at Limerick back in March and was stepping forward from his seasonal debut, having finished mid-division in a stronger maiden at Naas last month.

"He had a nice run in the spring time at Limerick when he should have won and was unlucky. He was entitled to do that today and he had the form and liked that ground,” said O'Grady.

"The ground was probably a bit quick for him the last day - he needs a cut and he is in a long time. We're waiting for soft ground for a long time.

"He'll go to Limerick at Christmas for something like a rated novice hurdle next."
