Macadam's Rock completed a first double for trainer Hilary McLoughlin at Dundalk today, landing the concluding Find Us On Facebook @dundalkstium Handicap following good advice from leading jockey Ryan Moore.
Unplaced under three-times Champion UK Jockey Moore at the Curragh last month, Macadam's Rock today ran around in the closing stages but held on well for a length and three parts win over Kaswarah
Cashel-based McLoughlin's partner Martin Ferris later said “the jockeys who ride work for us weren't available at the Curragh and John Manton in Ballydoyle and Seamie Heffernan sorted out getting Ryan (Moore) to ride him.
“Ryan wasn't hard on him when his chance was gone, said to drop him back to seven (furlongs) maybe to Dundalk where there is a bend and to strap a tongue-tie on him.”
He added “we have 17 horses riding out and have seven or eight to run on the track. Hilary does all the work - I'm only the boy! Hilary's sister Yvonne helps when she isn't working so it is a great family effort.
Regarding the race, he added “I thought it wasn't looking great for a while and he was further back than we had discussed but Billy got me out of trouble.
“They went very hard, he didn't travel early and stayed galloping. He'll be fine on the summer tracks where there is a bend.”
McLoughlin's Evening Verse was an earlier easy handicap winner for jockey Andrew Slattery.
