Trainer Hogan on board as Krystle takes opener
Kylebeg Krystle was produced with a perfectly timed run by Denis Hogan to claim the opener at Cork this afternoon.
Hogan, doubling up as jockey and trainer, challenged at the last in a competitive affair and hit the front soon after.
The Oscar mare kept on well on the run-in to record a length-and-a-quarter victory over Ring Street Roller
Hogan trains the mare for his father Martin and she was recording the fifth success of her career.
The Cloughjordan-based handler has six horses in his care and still rides out four days a week for Charlie Swan.
"She didn't seem to handle the ground last time when she ran over fences. She missed the first few today but got her confidence as the race went on and did it well," said Hogan of the winner afterwards.
"She'll go back chasing and I'll try and get some black-type with her."
