Track just makes it
Just five went to post for the Goresbridge Novice Hurdle but it provided a tremendous finish as Make A Track just got the better of the front-running Ceol Rua
Ruby Walsh set out to make all on Ceol Rua (3/1) and, despite a far from fluent hurdling technique, she still held the call two out.
Davy Russell threw down his challenge at this point aboard well-backed 2/1 (from 11/4) favourite Make A Track and, after a titanic battle, just prevailed by a head.
Irish Grand National winner Organisedconfusion was outpaced in the straight finishing another seven and a half lengths away in third.
Winning trainer Charlie Swan said, “It's so hard in this country after you win a maiden hurdle because there's too many good horses around. He's good but not top class, more workmanlike.
“We'll probably skip Christmas with him and go somewhere quiet. He settled well today. You hate to see Ruby dictate it from the front. There wasn't much between them before at Punchestown, and it was close again today,” he added.
