Thyestes next up for Jack The Bus
With the early defection of Tullintain just eight went to post for the feature Grade C Foxrock Handicap Chase at Navan this afternoon with top weight Jack The Bus for Peter Casey and Andrew Lynch coming out on top.
The 12 year old son of Old Vic was recording his sixth career success today and his third at Navan, having won a novice hurdle in '08 and the 2010 Troytown Chase over the course.
Sent to post the 7/2 second favourite, the winner hit the front at the third last and despite not jumping the last two fences well, he kept on to score by three lengths from the staying on Four Chimneys (12/1) back in second. Silent Creek was a further two and three parts of a length back in third at 4/1 while the 11/4 favourite Kakagh ran out approaching the fifth fence under Barry Geraghty.
Winning trainer Peter Casey who is still quite upset about being hit with a fine of €1,900 for withdrawing Jack The Bus late from the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas, said afterwards: "I was at Michael O'Brien's funeral on the day and my son Francis didn't get in touch with me quick enough for me to tell him withdraw the horse.
"The ground was too fast for him in Leopardstown."
Casey did appeal the Leopardstown fine but was unsuccessful.
He then added, "He will go for the Thyestes (January 26th) at Gowran now."
