Saltonstall recorded his tenth career win and fourth Premier Handicap when taking the Tote Athgarvan Handicap at the Curragh this afternoon.
The nine-year-old son of Pivotal, who landed the Colm Quinn BMW Mile twice at the Galway Festival and has also scored at Listed level, led inside the final 100 yards to beat Indigo Five by a neck with Simply Sideways just half-a-length further away in third.
Winning rider Adam Caffrey said, “Everyone loves him in the yard and I think there are a few waiting to get him when he’s retired but he’s still loving the game.
“Starting off the year I was chinned on him here in the Lincoln so to finish it off like that is great.
“I rode him a bit handier today as it’s hard to make up ground. I was happy when he jumped out and travelled for me. He relaxed nicely and stayed out the trip well.
“I’ve had a great season and that’s 25 winner for the season. I can’t thank Ado and the owners enough for all the opportunities that I’ve been given.”
Caffrey finished second to Jamie Powell (28 wins) in the apprentice championship.
