Tellthemnuttin rsquo;s win in the Tintern Abbey Handicap Hurdle at Wexford today will have helped connections of the Willie Codd trained winner erase memories of a disqualification at Downpatrick in May, as the mare scored a deserved second career win today.
The daughter of Shantou won at Downpatrick in early May and was again first to finish in the northern venue later in the month, only to be disqualified as her rider Dylan Robinson was adjudged to have ridden dangerously in-running.
Robinson was in the saddle again today and in the end steered her to a length and a half win over Teacher’s Pet.
Codd was open and honest in his post-race assessment of Tellthemnuttin, saying “the disqualification at Downpatrick was hard to take for the guys (Heads Or Harps Syndicate) - Dylan made a decision that day and none of us thought she’d lose it and it was disappointing for the guys.
"I'm delighted for the syndicate, they’re really enthusiastic and love racing. Hopefully she stays health and sound and we'll get more days out of her.
"I'm delighted she has won somewhere other than Downpatrick, with no disrespect, because it just gives us more options. She takes her racing well and is tough and might go to Galway next Wednesday if she gets into the mares handicap hurdle over two mile one. It might be on the short side but she owns us nothing this year.”
