Super Seabass makes it five in-a-row

Tue 27th Dec 2011, 15:20

Seabass recorded his fifth win in-a-row as he took the feature race on day two of the Limerick Christmas Festival, the Grade B Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase over 2m 3f for his trainer Ted Walsh with his daughter Katie aboard.

Having won at Fairyhouse in February of 2010 the son of Turtle Island wasn't seen again until November of this year when he won a point-to-point at Ballinabola in Co Wexford.

He followed up on that victory at Punchestown on his last start when winning a Handicap Chase over 2m 6f under Ruby Walsh.

Sent off the 9/2 favourite the 8yo gelding made virtually all and was pushed clear before the second last.

He stayed on best from there to record a two and three parts of a length win over Tullintan back in second at 12/1 (backed from 25/1 this morning) for Robert Tyner and Philip Enright. Start Me Up who was backed from 16/1 into 12/1 on course, finished a length and three parts back in third under Ben Dalton while Silent Creek was a further three lengths back in fourth at 7/1.

Winning rider Katie Walsh said afterwards: "He was No 9 on the ballot to get into the Paddy Power at Leopardstown but he didn't make it so we decided to come here for this good pot.

"He did it well and I not sure what the plan is for him now."
