Owner Brian Acheson's Robcour followed up yesterday's Down Royal heroics at Naas today as Slade Steel s (100/30) landed the Cavan Developments Maiden Hurdle for trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore.

Punchestown-placed Slade Steel debuted over hurdles today and ridden prominently, moved to lead at the last and beat runner-up King Of Kingsfield (8/11f) by five and a half lengths.

De Bromhead reported “Slade Steel was a nice bumper horse last year, we didn’t run him too much and it is nice to see him come out and do that. He really stayed at it.

“He won his point-to-point and I’d say he’s adaptable, he has a bit of pace as well. He has an entry in the Royal Bond and we’ll find a novice for him somewhere.”

In the past eight days owner Acheson has scooped Grade 1, 2 and 3 prizes with, respectively, Gerri Colombe (in yesterday's Ladbrokes Champion Chase), Gentlemansgame (last weekend's Wetherby Charlie Hall Chase) and Irish Point (at Down Royal on Friday).
