There was plenty of confidence behind the John Oxx newcomer Ripples Effect in the four-year-old plus maiden at Limerick and he got the job done under Declan McDonogh.

The son of Sea The Stars, who is out of Listed winner Ripples Maid, had fetched 340,000gns as a foal and started to repay some of that big price-tag on his belated debut.

McDonogh tracked the leaders on the 9/4 favourite in the mile contest. He stuck tight to the rail turning for home and hit the front passing the two pole. Tetraites threw down a strong challenge inside the final furlong but Oxx's charge stuck on well to record a half length victory.

"He had been hanging around a long time and this run is two years later than expected," said Oxx.

"He's had problems but that's nice and hopefully he is over his problems now.

"We will up him in distance. He'll probably be hard to place but hopefully the handicapper will give him a (reasonable) mark."
