This season's apprentice title involves three jockeys and contender Wayne Hassett clawed backed a winner on recently relocated Londonofficecallin in the Welcome Back To Thurles Handicap.
Londonofficecallin (5/6 fav) had won five of his eight most recent starts for Limerick trainer Eric McNamara and while his latest success came at Down Royal only 11 days ago, today debuted for new handler Gavin Cromwell.
The seven-year-old seemed outpaced but eventually finished well to score by half-a-length from Tastyee
Following Londonofficecallin's success, Hassett reported: "I was meant to sit second but he broke a bit slow and definitely wants more of an ease in the ground to help him.
“They went a nice gallop and I was always 'on top' of him, pushing him along but it just kept him on his toes and when I wanted him he was there. Gavin (Cromwell) said to be forward, and that was it.”
The success moves Hassett to 27 winners this term, one behind leader Adam Caffrey who had earlier steered Skontonovski to win, and level with similarly chasing James Ryan.
