Regally-bred Streets is Gold at Cork
His dam User Friendly won the English, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks as well as the Leger and the Grand Prix De Saint Cloud back in 1992 and 1993 but her son Streets Of Gold is excelling in a different sphere as he landed the biggest win of his career in the Paddypower.com Cork Grand National Handicap Steeplechase under Alan Crowe.
The son of Sadler's Wells, equipped with blinkers and a tongue-strap, who won a Wexford maiden at 1/2 under Kieren Fallon in his time at Ballydoyle, led before the last here and battled off the gallant Operation Houdini by a length and three parts.
Frank Berry, J P McManus' racing manager, said of the Christy Roche-trained eight-year-old: "He ran well in Sligo last time and jumped away well and Alan gave him a great ride. He liked the conditions and the trip.
"It is great to get a prize like that and as for future plans I don't know. He has limited scope for big fences and he is more of a county job."
Streets Of Gold was winning his fourth race in the National Hunt arena since joining Roche and he also won a Gowran handicap under Berry's son Fran.
