Just six fences were jumped in the last race at Cork this evening, the Munster Handicap Chase with the 14/1 shot Ransom making all to score for trainer Robert Tyner with Philip Enright aboard.

The 12yo son of Broken Hearted, who races in the same colours as Footy Facts, won a point-to-point back in February of 2006 at Tallow.

He then ran eight times on the track before winning a novice chase at Clonmel in October 2009 on his first start over fences on the racecourse.

After his win at Clonmel he didn't appear again until the 29th of December last year at Limerick where he pulled up in the race won by The Bosses Nephew.

He pulled up again on his last start at Leopardstown in late January in the race won by Senior Again.

Having lead the whole way today, he was strongly pressed at the last (normally two out) by the 20/1 shot Play the Wing for Lawrence Walshe.

However she unseated her rider Robert Jones at that fence leaving the winner in a clear lead.

He kept on well from there to score by two and a half lengths from In The Haven back in second at 12/1 under Brian O’Connell for Philip Rothwell while Yeoman was a further five and a half lengths back in third at 7/1 under Andrew Lynch. William Wordsworth who opened on track at 6/1 and was backed into 3/1 favouritism, crashed out at the second last under Mick Darcy for Sabrina Harty.

Winning trainer Robert Tyner said afterwards: "He is a horse that has been plagued with injuries and he was nearly put down as a 6yo as he severed a tendon.

"I thought he would need the race today. He'd like better ground but it’s quite loose and they were getting through it."

The three fences down the back straight were omitted due to the low lying sun while the last was also taken out due American Job (fell at it in the previous race) being still down.
