"She had a good run the last day in what was probably a good maiden," said Donnacha O'Brien after he'd won on Gossamer Wings (4/6) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden at Navan.
That maiden that O'Brien was referring to was when the Scat Daddy filly found Just Wonderful and Lethal Promise her superior at the Curragh on Irish 2,000 Guineas Day.
She had to switch to get into the clear on that occasion and eventually kept on well without matching the first two inside the final furlong for a creditable third placing.
"I got there too soon and she got a bit lonely in front but when the other horse came to me she went away again," reported O'Brien this time on the Ballydoyle victor.
She obliged by half a length from Ger Lyons and Colin Keane's second favourite Rita Levi
"The step back to five was no problem to her," further reflected the successful pilot.
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving Gossamer Wings (USA), ridden by D. O'Brien, and Usra ridden by S. Foley, where it appeared Usra was forced to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found D. O'Brien in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his record into account suspended him for one race day.
S. Foley, rider of Usra trained by K.J. Condon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tight for room in the final furlong.
