Deauville overturned the odds-on favourite Sanus Per Aquam as he took the Group Three Japanese Racing Association Tyros Stakes under Joseph O'Brien for his father Aidan.
A winner on heavy ground on his debut at Listowel in May the successful son of Galileo was sent off at 9/2 having opened at 3/1 last night.
Settled in third he was pushed along from three furlongs out and was ridden to challenge in second from the two furlong pole.
He edged to the front inside the final 100 yards and kept on well from there to score by half a length.
The Jim Bolger trained Sanus Per Aquam, who was sent off the 1/3 favourite had no excuses in second.
He hit the front over two furlongs out but couldn't hold off the winner in the closing stages.
Aidan O'Brien said afterwards: "He's tough - he's a hardy, tough horse. "It's a good while since he ran. He was going to go to the Chesham but had a little setback and that's why he ended up coming here.
"He stays and Joseph said he was very green. He'll probably have learned a lot from today. He stuck his head out and is a typical Galileo.
"Obviously the Futurity is a race we'll look at and also the National Stakes."
Joseph O'Brien added: "He won nicely in Listowel and Seamus (Heffernan) felt there was a lot of progression in him from that day.
"He had been working nicely at home but he was quite green throughout the race today. I was niggling him along but I always felt there was plenty in the locker.
"He was a little bit green off the bend but once I straightened up and got a couple of flicks into him he fought all the way to the line.
"I'd imagine there is a lot of improvement in him. Today is far from him at his peak. He is an exciting horse going forward."
