The loose Bonobo (bucked Colin Motherway off soon after the start) did little to help either Dursey Sound or Annie Power up the straight but in the end it was the latter that did enough to score by a length and a quarter in the Ladbrokes "Like Our Facebook Page" Flat Race at Galway.
A second bumper winner of the week for the Jim Bolger, Patrick Mullins combination following on from Cul Baire on the Monday, this victorious Shirocco filly (a half-sister to Head Waiter) was well-touted and went off the 9/10 favourite.
Ger Flynn representing Bolger said: "Patrick was delighted with her. She has a fantastic pedigree and he said that she has the speed to win over a mile and six on the flat.
"The loose horse done her no favours. Himself and Nina (Carberry, rider of Dursey Sound) couldn't concentrate on riding a finish.
"It took a few strides for the penny to drop when they turned into the straight but once she got the hang of things she went away well.
"Eamon Cleary, the former Wexford hurler owns her (bred her as well). He is based in Dubai now.
"She was entered at Wexford last Friday but the ground was too firm."
The Stewards informed Fabian Burke authorised representative of Mr Kevin Prendergast, trainer of Bonobo, that their charge may be liable to suspension if there is a recurrence of today’s behaviour at the start where he became unruly giving his rider no chance of staying in the saddle after a fair start had been effected.
