Storm Miami landed some tidy bets when getting up close home under Colin Keane to win the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Naas.
As big as 9/2 earlier in the day, the Ger Lyons trained juvenile was supported into 11/4 at the off. Carrying the colours of owner Mark Dobbin, the daughter of Blue Point was held up in mid-division by Keane, before moving closer to deliver a challenge to leader Asean over a furlong out.
The Donnacha O'Brien trained runner-up battled hard under Paddy Harnett but could find no extra inside the final 50 yards, eventually losing out by a short head.
It was a returning winner for jockey Colin Keane who had missed the Irish Derby festival due to a seven-day ban incurred at Leopardstown.
Shane Lyons, “She was only ready to start and the penny only dropped the last half-a-furlong. Colin said she loved that ground.
“I’m delighted for Mark Dobbin who is a great patron of ours and she was his pick of the Orby Sale last year. We liked her as well and were delighted that he sent her to us.
“We’ll take baby steps now as she was only ready to start and she can step up to six furlongs as well which is a plus.”
