Loughisle Lady (12/1) won the concluding amateur riders’ maiden by a diminishing neck from the 1/1 favourite Hi Stranger
It was a first winner on just his third ride for 22-year-old Steven Cahill who is from Graiguenamanagh.
He settled the grey in fourth place as Fattan established a clear advantage. The leader was reeled in over half-a-mile out and Cahill sent his mount to the front entering the straight. Pushed along in a three length lead a furlong out, the winner never really looked in danger as the favourite gave chase but needed the line to come when it did all the same. Advantage Point was a further three and a quarter lengths away in third.
Morning favourite My Mate Mozzie was taken out because of the fast ground.
The successful daughter of Montmartre is related to a stack of winners including Petite Parisienne who won at the highest level over hurdles. This was her first start on the Flat after three unplaced runs over hurdles last year.
Patrick Mullins, representing his father and winning trainer Willie Mullins, remarked: “She's very well bred. She was disappointing last year and we thought she was better than that.
“Maybe coming back to the Flat and good ground has helped her.
“It's great to give Steven a winner, he's a real good hardy rider and rides anything at home. He's a big help to us in the yard.
“It's great to get a winner for the Slatterys as well, they are relatively new owners to us. Hopefully this mare will continue to live up to her pedigree now.”
