An intriguing Party Time Ltd. Marquee Hire Rated Race takes centre stage on Limerick’s eight-race card today.
The seven-furlong contest sees another chance for the Aidan O’Brien-trained All The King’s Men, of whom much will be expected following his narrow miss at Leopardstown last month.
He looked to have done everything right under Donnacha O’Brien, having pinched a few lengths off the front in the straight, but was mowed down close home by Ger Lyons’ Basic Law.
The winner is progressive, though, and won on Irish Derby weekend at the Curragh.
There are plenty of dangers, including the Madeleine Tylicki-trained Port Lions who was not beaten far in the race Basic Law won at the Curragh — while Morpho Blue has won his last two for the in-form Jessica Harrington. Geological (Damian English) and Honor Oak (Tom Hogan) also merit respect.
Formerly with Adrian Keatley, Major Reward is likely to be popular in the Handipak Play Live On 25th July Handicap — on his first start for Lyons, having also been gelded. Fairy Fort has claims for O’Brien in the McSweeney Sports Surfaces — Equestrian Walkways Maiden. But one that catches in the eye in the mile affair is Dermot Weld’s debutant Proxy who is a son of Frankel in the Khalid Abdullah colours.
Navan winner Building Bridges represents Harrington in the Racing Again Next Saturday Handicap, where Weld’s Karasheni may be interesting stepping up in trip on his handicap bow.
The meeting gets under way at 1.20, with the Limerick Racecourse Family Fun Day Median Auction Maiden — in which Joseph O’Brien’s twice-raced Latin Five and Harrington-trained newcomer Pixel Power catch the eye.
