The final two year old maiden of the year, run at Dundalk today, saw the Ted Walsh trained slow breezer Layfayette Hill get off the mark at the sixth attempt when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF-sponsored heat under jockey Gary Halpin.
The 71 rated daughter of War Command was well supported on track from 7/1 in to 5/1 favourite at the off and in the race was produced by Halpin to move past leader Unabridged under a furlong out before recording a length and a quarter success over that rival.
Afterwards trainer Walsh said “she’s improved with every run, and she’s a big filly that will improve again next year. She wants every yard of a mile and will go further.
“She’s going to win plenty more races and she goes on that (surface). Her only moderate run was in Galway where it was quite heavy and it was a good maiden.
“She is a lovely looking filly; Katie bought her as a yearling and she has a good pedigree but she didn’t breeze quick enough.”
