Kisanga wore down her rivals in the concluding mile and a quarter maiden at the Curragh to take the spoils for Dermot Weld and Declan McDonogh.

The filly stepped up in trip from her eye-catching fourth on debut over seven furlongs in Naas.

She was returned at 3/1 co favourite but was very popular in trading throughout the day as her price shortened from 6/1 to 13/8.

She got to grips with National Security and National Wealth inside the final furlong and came in by a length.

National Security (3/1 co favourite) took the runner-up berth ahead of National Wealth (6/1).

Dermot Weld said: "She did what we thought she might do.

“She's a lovely big mare and she battled well. It was a very good ride from Declan. I asked him just to let her down gradually on the ground and that's what he did. It was a good, positive ride.

“It's fast ground out there and it's quick enough for any horse.

“We're in no hurry with her, she's a big mare and we'll go gradually with her. It's just nice to win with her today.

“She'd probably like a little bit more ease in the ground going forward and maybe another furlong.”
