Johnny Cullen, now a trainer and enjoying a good time of it of late on Charlie Swan's Tribes And Banner, gave favourite (only market-leader to win on the evening) King William a confident steer to take the finale at Ballinrobe, the Tote Return All Profits To Irish Racing Maiden Hurdle.

Cullen oozed confidence on the Galway runner, going up the inner of his market-rival Hospital out of the back straight.

The contest was soon over barring accidents with David Kelly's charge skipping over the last on the way to a four length dismissal of his previously mentioned opponent.

Kelly disclosed: "It's my first winner of the season and I have four in training as I'm not in a great part of the country.

"It's grand to get the win and I think he'll improve from it. I have to give a good mention to Liam O'Malley who is my local vet.

"He gives me good advice and help.

"I'd like to thank the McMahon's as well who own him. They're from Athenry.

"He won't go to Galway. He might go to Sligo instead." (DM & EM)
