Gavin Cromwell recorded his third success of the season at Kilbeggan, as his Katoptris took the opening Book Online At www.kilbegganraces.com Maiden Hurdle.
Eighth and sixth on her first two starts, the daughter of Beneficial was a closer fifth on her most recent outing at Downpatrick.
Having opened on-course at 5/1 this evening, she eventually went off a 4/1 chance in the colours of owner Everina Kilfeather.
Settled behind the leaders on the inner, she was slightly hampered by a loose horse with just over a circuit to race.
She improved to challenge from two out and was ridden in second before the last, keeping on best from away from the final flight, going on to prevail by half a length under Andrew Lynch.
The front-running Cooldine Bog (14/1) had to settle for second under Danny Mullins for Andy Slattery, while the 7/4 favourite Glocca Mora was another length and three parts back in third.
Cromwell, who recorded a double at the venue on April 30th, said afterwards: "She's a four-year-old and is still a bit weak but in fairness she dug deep. She's improving all the time and the better ground obviously helped. She'll be a lovely mare for breeding later on."
