After Dagoda earlier on the card, Hot Whispers was another long-standing maiden to finally get her turn when she came from off the pace under Nathan Crosse to land the Keeper's Heart Irish & Bourbon Whiskey Handicap.
Pushed along with only one behind her at halfway, the daughter of Hot Streak was soon ridden and initially made no impression but the leaders had gone hard and the 8/1 chance swept to the front in the final 100 yards to beat Ever Rock by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
The four-year-old, formerly with Shane Nolan, was making the breakthrough on start number nineteen.
Having been acquired for 5,000 Euros in a Sligo claimer in May, she was having her fourth start for trainer Denis Hogan and the Enduring Love Syndicate.
Crosse said: “I thought she did it very nicely in the end. I know she was a maiden for a long while.
“I felt like we were winging along, the ground is probably a little bit on the quick side forher and a bit slower ground will help her a lot.
“Her stamina kicked in, she does have plenty of boot but just because she couldn't go early she saved herself for the finish which I really liked. She galloped out through the line great and I'm very happy with her.
“They are a great bunch of lads, the valets (Clearys) claimed her and got a few local lads involved so it's brilliant.”
