Fozzy Stack believes Hermana Estrella can overcome her lack of experience in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh today.

The Starspangledbanner filly was pitched into a Group 3 on her sole start at Naas in May last year and passed with flying colours as she beat subsequent Queen Mary winner Quick Suzy by a length.

A tilt at the French 1,000 Guineas was mooted, but connections swerved that option for this Classic on home soil.

Stack said: “Her preparation has been very straightforward. I’ve been very happy with her all spring and she seems in good order. Her form is good from last year and she is working well.

“Obviously she lacks a bit of experience but she is very sound mentally. She ran in a Group 3 first time out and it was no problem to her so we’ll see what happens.

“We decided not to go for the French Guineas about three days or four days before as it was going to be 30 degrees all weekend in Paris and no matter how much water you throw on it was not going to make much difference to it in those temperatures.”

Hermana Estrella is available at 22/1 for this Group One. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
